English as Additional Language Programme (EAL)
The EAL support we provide is intended to help students make the rapid progress needed when their level of English is below that expected of their age. This is to ensure they get full benefit from their lessons and make the progress needed to succeed in school. As a high quality, accredited school we have a commitment and responsibility to ensure all our students receive the correct levels of support so that they make the right amount of progress throughout their time with us.
This additional support involves pupils working with an EAL specialist teacher who:
- Support them in class
- Teaches student in very small groups for special literacy lessons
- Teaches one hour lessons after school on 2 days per week
- Teaches extra hours on Saturday morning
